I just turned 50 and have a hip problem, but love being active. Running "my first love" was less of an option because of my failing hip. So I dicided on the next best thing: "BIKING." I chose the 7.4 FX Disc because of its affordable pricing and components. I went from riding around a few blocks with my hand-me-down racer to 12 to 15 mile rides in the morning before work. I ride this bike everyday and am so happy with my purchase! Come alone for the RIDE... there's plenty of room...
My wife and I wanted a great entry level bike without breaking the bank. The Trek FX seemed to fit the bill, and we really enjoy getting out for a 20-30 mile cruise. These bikes handle this well. We did get clip in pedals which really makes these bikes easy to handle hills etc.
I ride greenways for fitness - usually either 10, 15 or 20 miles / day depending on how many "laps" I have time for on a given day. This bike is just perfect for my needs. I did not really need the disc brakes - if it is raining, I use the ski machine instead! But, I really wanted discs - and am quite pleased with them. My previous bike was a 3700 - I don't miss the suspension or the extra weight!! I really like the ease with which this bike accelerates. The gearing is ideal for the small hills I encounter. the riding position is more upright - which my back appreciates. The grips are exceptionally comfortable. the saddle is quite good -even on the days I ride 20+
