2014 Trek Allant WSD - Women's

Potholes, taxis, trucks, busy paths; nothing stands in the way of Trek's Allant WSD. It's ready to roll any time with its lightweight aluminum frame, fast 700c wheels and handy rear rack. The upright riding position and stable ride mean top comfort and excellent handling that makes it easy to navigate around cracked pavement and errant vehicles. Plus, the Shimano 21-speed drivetrain offers easy pedaling, while the powerful linear-pull brakes offer excellent stopping power. You even get fenders so you can ride in comfort in all weather conditions.

Comments:

I bought this bike THIS WEEK and love it so much I am jumping straight into a review. What can I say? I love it! I use it for commuting and city riding. It is great to look at, a nice mesh of classic and contemporary style, and rides nicely. My city is pretty hilly, and it handles well. The only real weakness with this bike is that it's a bit heavy. I take it up a few flights of stairs at the end of the day, and as a small person (5'2), it's a bit of a feat. BUT at least I can strength train by lifting it up!I don't think anyone shorter than myself could ride this bike-- I have the smaller frame, and the seat is as low as it goes. Anyone taller would likely find it a good fit. Nice upright position. Definitely not built for speed, but I get where I'm going in good time.I am ECSTATIC to own this bike.

I got this bike for my birthday in April and have put 1200 miles on it in the last 4 months. The bike has held up super well and it's very comfortable for my 20 mile daily commute. It looks great, is super comfortable, and has held up well.

Excellent bike. For those wishing to add a basket that fits properly to the basket mount, buy a Bontrager Interchange basket. All you need to do is buy a few (3) nuts and bolts to attach it (do not use the provided attachments, they are for attaching to the handlebars) to the basket mount (2 upper 5/8" and 1 lower 1"). All of the openings on the basket line up perfectly.

        Comments:

I absolutely love my Allant WSD. I now remember how much I loved my first bike and that first taste of freedom that came with it. I named her Eco...she is friendly...and she takes me wherever I need to go. I run all my errands on my bike now that I have installed a basket on the front rack. I know that was a big con for most, but I found a great basket that can easily install on the front rack and really goes well with the look of the bike. It's called the Axiom expresso front basket...check it out! It can be found at sites like [...] and probably some others too.Overall, this bike is very comfortable, versatile, and beautiful. I understand how not having a basket could be a con for some, but most bikes aren't going to have every accessory you want already on them. I have added the basket, lights, and a new bell (not needed b/c the bike comes with a bell, but it was really cute). The only thing I do wish the bike had was a chain guard. I am going to invest in pant straps b/c I do sometimes get my pants caught in the chain, especially when it is windy (which is all the time here).Trust me when I say this...the Allant is a very good investment and a great commuter bike.

          Comments:

I live in NYC and you have to defensive ride constantly. This bike makes you feel safer because of the lightweight feel, upright position and overall swiftness of speed and braking. Riding over potholes doesn't feel jarring at all. This is a great price value for commuting, errands and riding around the city's scenic landscape.

I just bought this bike and have looked many places online to find the perfect basket. It amazes me that almost every review mentions the lack of basket and Trek has done nothing to close this gap. It's a big Con!

            Comments:

I love this bike. I ride it to work and love to wear a skirt while riding. I don't have to go all "lycra" just to ride a bike. But I wish Trek would produce the basket that it had at the Trek show last summer. That sold me! The little rack in front doesn't hold much. I want that big, beautiful basket and my dealer says "it's coming, it's coming" but it's been six months yet, and no basket.

I tried the Electra Townie, the Gary Fisher, and the Trek Navigator and the Trek 7100 before finding the Allant. I LOVE THIS BIKE! It is incredibly lightweight, has the feel of a cruiser bike, but with 21 speeds on it you can take it anywhere. No leaning over the handlebars, yay!
