2015 Trek District 8

Trek's District 8 is beauty simplified. The classic steel frame, the smooth-shifting 8-speed drivetrain, the power and ease of disc brakes; it all adds up to a bike that can handle the rigors of the city, yet has not forgotten its country manners. Commute through the urban jungle, take it on suburban jaunts, ride it over hill and dale in the farmland, its upright position lets you take in the views. Wide tires on big, road-bike-sized aluminum wheels roll easily and keep their speed, and there's plenty of room for fenders and racks, if that's your thing (sold separately). The District takes cycling back to its roots, where it's not about spandex and mega mileage, it's about fun and the wind in your hair.

From the beginning know I haven't ridden a bike in over forty years. I'm 58. Intend to use the bike for messenger work in NYC. Disc brakes. Eight speed. $600 dollars. Good? Bad? I don't know. I'll make a note to update this review in the future when anything inconvenient occurs, and if after six months of work the bike is an endurance champ I'll be sure to make this known. I like what I see so far. Can't say much more, actually
